Secure PC software is a collection of computer programs that impact information security. These programs can be used to detect malware and guard against phishing attacks, ransomwares and backdoors, rootkits, etc. Security software for computers is an essential tool for both individuals and businesses. It can reduce risks and increase efficiency. It is scalable, and works well in all types of environments. Its advanced features include a threat library that provides the best protection and prevention. It also supports data encryption and cloud storage. Its user-centric design permits organizations to monitor employee behaviour and identify threats without slowing the network or system down.

Get rid of unnecessary software. Intruders target computers by exploiting business transactions and information security vulnerabilities in software, so the fewer programs you install the less chances for a cyberattack. Review the software you have installed on your system and eliminate any that isn't necessary after analyzing it to confirm that it's safe to do so. Backup your settings and files prior to removing any software.

Use a normal account that isn't an administrator for day-today activities. Log in only using an administrator account when you are required to install or remove software or modify your computer's settings. This helps reduce the impact of malware and keeps your personal information safe from hackers.

Update your operating system as well as your web browser and applications. Operating system and app updates frequently include security fixes that keep hackers from gaining access to your data or compromising your systems.

Secure all portable and external drives. This will prevent anyone accessing your sensitive or private files if they're stolen or lost. The IT department at UF can enable this for laptops, if you haven't done so yet.
